about

Elegant in its repulsiveness, gentle in its brutality. 'De-illuminate' is the name of the venomous new album from one man metal welder Dark Years from Now. It is hardwired and sculpted for the intensity of our current environment, a dystopian trek through twelve unabashed odes to the shadows. An album focused on creativity as opposed to simple aural carnage, multiple metal sub-genres are flayed for the unique musical shards and then mixed up with angst riddled forays in techno, pop and even rap, all exhibited for the darkly curious. The hideous goal of course is to produce a heavy concoction of fast paced, mutant heavy metal for adventurous listeners.

“I want to create a record that is multi-faceted, where you can get the many dark offerings found in metal, rap and electronic music all in one place. Not only did I bring a lot of lyrics to the table, I composed large areas of instrumental focus where sound becomes the initiator of terror. Sound design is of great importance for me as an experimenter, its not enough to have warped tales told sorely with words, I need unorthodox sonic tones and compositional unpredictability to tell my stories.”

Dark Years from Now Vancouver, British Columbia
